Hello loves,
Engagement season is in full swing. So, I'm excited to share some tips to help you nail that holiday proposal 💍. 1. The Feeling Should Be Mutual Now, this should be a no brainer. Still, you'd be surprised how many people ignore this essential detail. Prior to popping the question, discuss your visions of marriage with your partner. If you're both on the same page, then, you can move forward with proposal plans. 2. Family Feedback This one only applies if your partner desires familial approval prior to the engagement. Don't base this on what you've seen in movies or even your own family dynamics. Your partner should be consulted before you contact their family. 3. Consider Your Partner Even if you're planning a surprise engagement, your partner's desires should be at the forefront of the planning process. From choosing the right ring, to deciding how intimate the big moment will be, your partner's wishes should be considered the whole way through. 4. The Ring A marriage is a mutual commitment. The ring however, is a gift for your partner. Once you begin conversations about marriage, you should simultaneously collect information about the kind of ring they'd like. In addition to the style, you should also be aware of your partner's ring size. Another important step is getting the ring insured. Unfortunate situations happen all the time. So, an item that valuable should be protected. 5. Don't Forget the Details Now, this may seem superficial to some. However, I think it demonstrates thoughtfulness, in this social media driven world. Be sure your partner is well put together, down to the cuticles (especially if the cameras are out). Trust me, this gesture will be greatly appreciated and make your love feel extra special. 6. Tie in the Holiday The holidays are the perfect time to pop the question. That's why engagement season lasts from Thanksgiving to Valentine's Day. So, why not infuse the magic of the season into the proposal? Weave the special moment into an existing holiday tradition, or use it to create a new one. Incorporating those festive elements into the proposal will definitely make the experience more memorable. 7. Secure the Ring Guess how many engagement rings are at the bottom of the ocean. Too many! When choosing the perfect destination for your engagement, be sure to consider ALL the possibilities. Take the necessary precautions to safeguard that ring! If the conditions are really high risk, consider a stand-in ring. While you don't need to spend tons of money on a custom replica, the stand-in should be very similar to the real thing. 8. Document the Moment Whether it be filmed or just a detailed journal entry, be sure to keep a record of this most precious moment. Trust me, one day further down the road, you'll be asked to recount the events of that day and you'll be surprised how many details you have forgotten. Seriously, whenever I ask my clients how they met, I always get a kick out of how much their stories differ. So, take the necessary steps to preserve the memory and enjoy it for years to come. I hope you feel more confident in planning your proposal. Congratulations in advance! Until Next Time, Mimi ☺️ Photo by Tara Winstead from Pexels Hello, My Loves,
It's getting quite chilly here, in NYC, as we gear up for the holiday season. Check out these practical party trends to keep it cute and cozy during your Christmas celebrations. 1. Hot Chocolate Station This one is tons of fun for kids and adults alike. The key is to start with quality hot chocolate and build from there. Add a few syrups and spices that compliment your chocolate flavor. Next, add some fun toppings to further enhance the experience. Lastly, create a cute display that's easily accessible for your guests. 2. Chili Bar This one is perfect for those extra cold, winter nights. Nothing warms the body and soul like a delicious bowl of chili. Start off with a pot of your favorite chili (incorporate multiple flavor options for some added variety). Then, add an array of toppings (cheese, fresh vegetables/herbs, sour cream etc.). Finish up with an assortment of complimentary sides e.g., French fries, naan, tortilla chips or cornbread. 3. Grilled Cheese Station I love the versatility of this one. Seriously, you can really get creative with the ingredients. Start with a selection of breads. Then, provide an array of cheeses (preferably ones that melt well). Be sure to include some fillers e.g., bacon, tomatoes, jalapeños, etc. Lastly, provide dipping options. Tomato soup, maple syrup and garlic butter are amongst the most popular. 4. Cozy Blankets & Throws I love how cute and practical this trend is. Not only will it enhance your festive decor, but, also doubles as a beautiful parting gift. Take it a step further and have your blankets embroidered for a more personal touch. 5. "Jammy" Jam This one is both comfy and cozy. Kin to the ugly sweater trend, matching pajamas are back in a major way. Enforce this festive dress code for a fun, laid back gathering. Not to mention the most epic party photos ever! If the PJ trend just isn't your thing, opt for festive holiday socks instead (perfect for a shoe-free home). I hope these trends help you get into the Holiday spirit! Find more on how to create them here. Until next time, Mimi☺️ Hey you guys, Spring has officially sprung, and outdoor party season is underway. Check out these 3 tips to level up your next garden party or springtime event. Find photo inspiration at the end. 1. Enforce a Festive Dress Code: Aesthetically speaking, a good dress code is crucial to a garden party. Just picture it, a sea of bold prints and vibrant colors flooding the room. Not only does this make for perfect photographs, but it fosters a cheerful environment. 2 Fresh Flowers for Garnishing: Nothing says garden party like fresh flowers. In addition to your centerpieces and displays, try adding florals in more unexpected ways. Fresh edible flowers atop salads, desserts, and cocktails, are always a big hit. Floral ice cubes are also a crowd favorite. It's amazing how impactful freezing fresh herbs, fruit, and edible flowers in water can be. 3. Botanical Favors: Living plants and petite floral arrangements make great garden party favors. Not only will they make the event look beautiful, your guests will enjoy a gift they can actually use. Take things up a notch by creating an on-site flower shop, allowing your guests to create their own bouquets, and floral accessories. I hope you're inspired to incorporate some of these colorful ideas into your next event! Until next time, Mimi☺️ Find more ideas here. Find more ideas here.
Hey you guys, I love how creative brides are getting with their wedding day style. So, I'm sharing some of my favorite bridal veil trends, for 2022. 1. Short and Sweet I love this trend because of its versatility. Since there's so much flexibility with placement, short veils compliment many hairstyles. 2. Crowning Glory This trend effortlessly commands the room. With countless styles to choose from, you can really showcase your personality or honor your culture with a bridal crown. 3. Unveiled Some brides are skipping veils entirely and opting for embellished hairstyles instead. Adorning their tresses with pearls, beads, or bling, and it's simply stunning. I love the creative freedom of this trend. 4. About Face Face framing veils really highlight a bride's beauty, keeping the focus on the face. The key to nailing this trend is finding a style that best accentuates your features. 5. Fully Embellished
This trend makes a real statement. Even when paired with the simplest dress, an embellished veil makes a major impact on the overall look. Wedding, or not, I hope these trends inspire you to try something new. Until next time, Mimi☺️ Hey you guys, Who's ready for Spring? I can't wait to break out the strappy sandals and maxi dresses. Until, that day comes, let's get into some Spring-inspired wedding trends. 🌺🌼🌸 1. Floral Linens Let the linens do the heavy lifting with a bold, botanical print. Even subdued patterns can add an effortless wow factor. You can pile on the decor for an elaborate table-scape, or let the linens do all the talking with a more simplified approach. 2. Floral Menu Cards & Stationery Stationery is typically the first and last thing your guests see, in regards to your wedding. Use this floral trend to add a whimsical flair and seamlessly tie everything together. With a wide array of styles to choose from, you're sure to find floral elements that suit your personality. 3. Floral Fashions & Accessories Donning a full-on floral ensemble is definitely not for the faint of heart. This trend takes moxie. So, if you're all about that show-stopping energy, this one is right up your alley. For a more tame approach however, try incorporating some floral accessories to enhance your look. 4. Large Scale Flower Installations
Talk about impact! Take flowers to the tenth power with a stunning, oversized, floral installation. Whether it be a breathtaking backdrop of paper blooms, or a custom dance floor painted with posies, you're sure to make a major statement with this trend. Will you be incorporating any of these trends into your Spring wedding or event? Please be sure to like if you found this helpful and share with a friend. Until next time, Mimi ☺️ Hey, you guys! I hope your new year is off to an amazing start. If you, or someone you know is recently engaged, please check out this list of things to consider before you start planning your big day. View it below. 💍 1. ENJOY YOUR ENGAGEMENT Congratulations, you’re engaged. Enjoy it! So many couples jump right into wedding planning after getting engaged. Don’t make this mistake. Your engagement is a big deal. Bask in this moment. Kiss each other a million times. Take tons of photos posing with your ring. Also, document all the details of your proposal, to enjoy for years to come. 2. SHARE THE GOOD NEWS It’s time to spread the word. Be sure to personally tell those closest to you, before you post on social media or send an announcement to the paper. 3. SET THE DATE The question everyone will be asking (including the wedding vendors). While it doesn’t have to be set in stone just yet. Choose some perspective dates of when you’d like to tie the knot. 4. DEFINE YOUR STYLE Once you’ve settled on some dates, you should decide on your wedding style. Will your cultures and, or religion, play a major role? Will the affair be more formal or casual? How many guests will you invite? these are all things to consider at this stage. 5. SET YOUR BUDGET Before you spend a dime, set your wedding budget! Start by finding a sample budget breakdown online (wedding costs vary widely from state to state). Then, review your finances. Also. be sure to find out if your parents would like to contribute, or gift a particular item. Once you have all of the numbers in front of you,you can create a savings plan (if necessary). 6. CHOOSE YOUR WEDDING PARTY A decision not to be taken lightly. Each member of your wedding party has a special role to play in your big day. So, choose those who not only want the best for you, but are able to commit to their duties as well. 7. FIND YOUR PLANNING COMMUNITY We highly suggest hiring a professional wedding planner. If not, at least a coordinator to manage your wedding day. In addition to the professionals, join an online wedding community. Zola, is one of our favorites. There is plenty of information, and so many resources out there to help you plan the perfect wedding. Planning a wedding can be very stressful. Most likely, you will hit some snags along the way. It's completely normal to bump heads with your partner. As long, as you are both very transparent about your desires, and, focus on what you're building together, you will figure it out. As always, hope this helps.
Until next time, Mimi ☺️ Hey you guys. Today I want to get into the importance of holiday traditions. As a mom, I'm always looking for cool ways to make memories with my little one. I love hearing the excitement in his voice, as he anticipates activities throughout the holiday season. Below, I've listed some fun ways you can start making Christmas traditions of your own... Deck The Halls Decorating not only gets you into the holiday spirit, it's also a great way to implement family traditions. Back when I used to celebrate Thanksgiving, my sisters and I would always go to the movies after dinner. The following day we'd start decorating for Christmas, since school was out. We'd put up the tree, and switch the living room decor to match our holiday color scheme. Sometimes, we would make paper snowflakes and paste them in the windows. I always looked forward to this as a kid. So, instead of randomly putting up the tree each year. Reserve a special date for everyone to get excited about. In The Kitchen As a true yardie, there are two Caribbean treats I'm guaranteed each year, an Easter Bun, and a Christmas Rum Cake. I can still remember my grandmother pulling out a large jar of rum soaked fruits each holiday season in preparation for the cake. Are there any special Christmas treats in your culture? Why not try your hand at making one? Don't worry, epic fails make the best stories. But, if baking really isn't your thing, there are plenty of options when it comes to pre-made cookie dough. Gather the family, and decorate them for a fun holiday activity. Out And About Traditions don't have to take place at home. Ice skating at Riverbank, shopping followed by hot chocolate in the city, or driving through a Christmas village, are all awesome activities for making memories during the holidays. I recently took my little one to Holiday Lights at the Bronx Zoo. In addition to all the beautiful lights, and performances, we made s'mores, and rode the holiday train. Weekend getaways at the cabin are another fun option. But, if you simply despise the cold, Christmas on the beach also works well. You can be that family that vacations in the tropics for the holidays. Let The Games Begin Not only is it important to include the little ones in the activities, you should empower them to create traditions also. My little guy is really into Nintendo's Super Mario. So, when LEGO did a collaboration with the franchise, we were all over it. Now, we rebuild each set around Christmas, creating a new world each day, We end on Christmas Eve, when he's allowed to open the latest addition. We then, run through the entire course. So, let your little one take center stage and come up with a cool tradition based on their interests. Movie Marathon
Lastly, schedule a movie marathon. Spend the day watching all your favorite holiday movies. If your schedule doesn't allow for a full on marathon, plan a few movie nights instead. With all the streaming services available, you're sure to find something to watch (Disney+ has all the good stuff). Add some gourmet popcorn and theater snacks to create the perfect viewing experience. I hope this inspires you to create some awesome traditions, you and your family will enjoy for years to come! Until next time, Mimi☺️ Hey you guys. Is anyone else a bit of a late bird? If you tend to fall behind schedule during the holidays, then, find yourself playing kitchen door bouncer... Try this pre dinner platter to please your hungry, dinner, guests. At the core, are three simple recipes (all linked below), bacon wrapped dated, zucchini chips, and garlic bread. Then, simply add one type of vegetable, a fruit (fresh or dried), a bit of cheese, and some nuts. Finish is off with some type of sauce, or dip, that compliments at least 2-3 items on the platter. The concept is derived from your basic charcuterie board or graze box. However, I find that adding cooked items, takes it to another level. Also, the majority of items can be portioned out by specified amounts, which makes shopping and prep simpler. While you can create a large platter or board for serving, I prefer using smaller vessels, for each guest (as pictured above). Recipe for Cheese Stuffed Bacon Wrapped Dates
I hope you give these recipes a try. I promise, they will not disappoint.
Until next time, Mimi☺️ Hey you guys.
