MEN'S WEDDING STYLE IDEAS: 10 Personal Style Touches for Men on Their Wedding Day

1/21/2025

Hello Loves,
Last week, I shared affordable wedding dress options for all the beautiful brides-to-be. Today, it's all about the groom. I'm sharing 10 personal touches that can enhance your wedding day style. The first four are most impactful to your overall wedding aesthetics, considering they complement the bridal party.
1. Pocket Boutonniere:
The pocket boutonniere is a modern twist on a classic wedding staple. Unlike standard boutonnieres, they often have a wider variety of flowers due to the way they are structured. I've also seen other embellishments, such as crystals and geodes, added for a more unique flare. Be mindful of your proportions when choosing a design to ensure a balanced, streamlined look.

2. Pocket Square:
Obviously, if you take the pocket boutonniere route, this will be hidden. But should you choose a standard boutonniere or none at all, a personalized pocket square adds a nice touch. It is a perfect way to incorporate a borrowed item with sentimental value. Pocket squares can also be personalized to memorialize a loved one who has passed on.

3. Shoes:
From custom-designer kicks to worn-in Western boots, footwear is a perfect way to show off your style. While you should still consider the overall aesthetics of your wedding, there is a bit more freedom to stand out.  Take things up a notch by doing a shoe change for the reception, and be sure to have your photographer capture your fashion moments as well.

4. Socks:
Since socks aren't as visible, this is a perfect way to incorporate something personal. In addition to prints and patterns, sentimental messages can be embroidered onto your socks. These work great for photo ops and keepsakes to cherish for years to come.
5. Jewelry:
Jewelry offers an abundance of versatility when it comes to personal style. From different designs to the types of pieces that you choose, there's plenty of room to get creative. I especially like vintage pieces for weddings since they often come with rich stories and sentiments attached.

6. Cufflinks:
Cufflinks are pretty straightforward. From initial monograms to unique natural stones, there are options for everyone's style. While not as impactful, they make your overall look more polished. Consider button-cover cufflinks if you are wearing a standard button-down shirt.

7. Timepiece:
Timepieces provide another opportunity for a borrowed or passed-down memento. Grooms often receive a pocket or wristwatch from a father figure or prominent man in their life. Also, many partners will gift their future hubbies with an engraved timepiece. Either way, this item has the potential to provide great sentiment.
Picture
8. Cologne:
While cologne isn't visual, it still impacts your wedding day style. Be sure to choose a fragrance that compliments your body chemistry without being over-powerful. Take the time to sample a few different scents and sit with them before making your final purchase.  The sense of smell triggers memories, so don't overlook it on your special day.

9. Fresh Ink:
A thoughtful tattoo is such a unique personal touch for your wedding day. Whether it be a couple's tatt or a design that honors your union, it's an intimate memento you'll carry forever. For an added layer of fun, consider keeping your fresh ink hidden and surprise your partner with it at the end of the night.

10. Hair/Grooming:
We all know that your hair is an integral part of any look, and your wedding day is no
exception. Give yourself several months to choose a style that suits your vision.  Don't neglect your facial hair and skincare routine. Consider hiring a (well-vetted) mobile barber/stylist for day-of service for the freshest look.

How to Use Mocha Mousse (Pantone Color of the Year) in Your 2025 Wedding

1/7/2025

Hello Loves,
New year, new Pantone color! Mocha Mousse is Pantone's Color of The Year for 2025, and I'm obsessed. As a neutral hue, this color is extremely versatile and pairs well with others. From makeup to tablescapes, I believe we'll be seeing this one all over the wedding scene. Read on to learn how I'd incorporate the color and how you can use it for your wedding day.
Picture
Floral Pairings:
Mocha Mousse is a neutral color perfect for floral arrangements. In addition to foliage and filler, there are plenty of flower options in similar shades. Roses are amongst the most accessible and come in a variety of natural colors in the Mocha Mousse family. Quicksand, Sahara, Moab, Toffee, and Amnesia are some of my favorites. I would embrace the current trends and incorporate bold colors into the arrangements. This will make your floral designs feel more fresh and modern. Check the swatch palettes above for some sample pairings.

Beauty Looks:
The versatility of Mocha Mousse is evident in the world of beauty. From flawlessly barefaced to bold, sultry looks, there are many ways to incorporate this color.  My tip here is to choose the look that makes you feel most confident. Work with your MUA to create at least 2 different looks. One look should be a more professional version of what you're used to. The second should push you out of your comfort zone a bit. Sit with both looks and see how each one makes you feel.

Tablescapes & Furnishings:
In addition to the wedding florals, furnishings and rentals are a great way to showcase color. Since Mocha Mousse is a neutral color, rentals are easily accessible and provide a warm background that accentuates varying styles. I would incorporate a mix of materials in Mocha Mousse, from glass and ceramics to velvet and leather. The variety of textures will provide depth and add visual interest to the event space.
Picture

Bridal Fashions:
One of the most simple yet impactful ways to introduce Mocha Mousse is in the wedding wardrobe. The bridal party is on full display during the ceremony and the reception, so choose shades in the Mocha Mousse family that complement your skin tones. For a fresh look, have the groom/smen wear Mocha Mousse, a neutral color, and have the bridesmaids wear a bolder color. This selection will also go a long way in facilitating cost per wear.
Picture
Photo Credits: Apple Cake Annie, Shaadi Wish, Cherry on my Sundae, Eating Out Loud, Bake With Zoha
Decadent Desserts:
Last but certainly not least, bring in some actual mocha treats. With desserts, it goes beyond the stunning color, you also get the amazing flavor. If mocha isn't your cup of cocoa, opt for salted caramel, dulce de leche, coffee creme, etc. I would incorporate multiple flavors by having a dessert bar instead of just a wedding cake. I love the idea of guests having a variety of goodies to sample and indulge. You can include options like macarons, cheesecakes, pastries, cookies, and mocha mousse, of course!

I really enjoyed creating this post. Seriously, how stunning is this color? I can't wait to see how couples will interpret this color trend!

Until Next Time,
Mimi🤗

The Top 6 Wedding Trends of 2025 That Has Me Most Excited and How to Implement Them Into Your Big Day

Hello Loves,
As we head into the new year, I wanted to share some top wedding trends for 2025 and why I'm completely obsessed with them. From design styles to social shifts, I've gathered my absolute favorites. I'm quite curious to know which ones resonate with you, so feel free to comment below.

1. Sustainability/Eco-Friendly Weddings
While eco-friendly weddings are nothing new, we've come a long way from the performative, sometimes condescending nature of "Going Green." Yes, there is still a certain social hierarchy associated with sustainability. However, the modern practices feel more intentional and authentic. From digital wedding stationery to vintage attire, couples are opting for a zero-waste approach. Not only is this trend good for the environment, but it fosters creativity and innovation.
How To: The key here is authenticity. If full-on digital correspondence feels too impersonal, opt for invitations made of recycled or biodegradable materials.  If you are not into secondhand threads, secure attire made from sustainable fabrics instead. Lastly, consider hiring vendors that specialize in sustainable practices to ensure the most effective impact.

2. Immersive Experiences
Couples are going all out to curate unique experiences for their wedding guests. Beyond an open bar or live band, creating unforgettable experiences has become a major part of wedding planning. I love the versatility and accessibility of this trend. From interactive cocktail seating charts to post-reception midnight food trucks, couples are making memorable moments guests won't soon forget.
How to: When deciding on featured experiences, consider the overall theme of the wedding and your budget. Whether you settle on a DIY tattoo station, a custom jewelry engraving suite, or hiring a cigar roller, it should feel like a seamless addition. I always tell my clients to consider "Purpose, Practical, and Personality" to help them finalize their decision.
Purpose: How will this experience benefit your guests or enhance the overall wedding
Practical: Assess the logistical application and ease of use
Personality: Does this represent you as a couple and or the culture of your wedding community

3. Tech-Integrated
Technology will continue to play a major role in weddings this year, both in front and behind the scenes. Expect to see hi-tech photo/video booths, flashy laser light shows, and dynamic digital DJ booths. Couples are also relying on AI to assist with the planning process. Tasks ranging from vendor sourcing to vow writing will be digitally enhanced. I love how accessible high-end planning resources have become for couples with smaller budgets through the use of AI. For more tech-inspired wedding trends, check out  Chapelle Johnson's article for The Knot. View it here:
 www.theknot.com/content/wedding-technology-trends
How To: The key to this trend is not overdoing it. Be mindful of why you are incorporating specific tech elements and how they will enhance your guests' experiences.

4. Bold Colors
Say goodbye to basic, boring palettes and roll out the red carpet for bold, beautiful colors. I'm always here for a rich color palette, especially for weddings. Be prepared for vibrant floral arrangements with unique accent colors and printed elements. We'll also continue to see perfectly mismatched bridesmaid's dresses. The use of colors in unexpected ways, such as flatware, stemware, and jewelry, will also be abundant this year.
How To: Instead of choosing a color swatch to match everything back to, take the time to develop a thoughtful color palette that includes alternative shades of your main colors. Do some research to get a feel for how colors will look paired together. Lastly, if bold colors are new for you, start with something low-stakes, like a scarf. This will help you decide if it's right for your big day.

5. Alternative Wedding Gowns
Alternative bridal attire is becoming increasingly popular. Gone are the days when wearing a bold color or pants as a bride is newsworthy. Brides have really made it a point to let their personalities shine with their wedding attire. Be on the lookout for a wide variety of options ranging from artsy and avant-garde to composed and casual.   This is exciting because comfort feeds confidence, and that is the ultimate accessory for your big day. Check out this Pinterest board for some unique bridal attire ideas: www.pinterest.com/MimiNikohlDS/alternative-wedding-dresses/
How To: Wear what you want. Wear what feels good. Wear what you'll look back on and think, I DID that!

6. Personalization
Personalization has been a major part of wedding planning for as long as I can remember. However, it has evolved substantially and is currently more comparable to product branding. As a graphic design girlie, this excites me. I love watching couples collaborate over the "branding" of their wedding. There's a beautiful intimacy that comes with artistic teamwork. Through connection and compromise, couples can create symbols of love that will be displayed throughout their wedding. From meticulously designed monograms and quirky sayings to intricate graphic art, we will see hints of personalization at every touch-point.
How To: Consider every opportunity for personalization and choose the ones that feel authentic to you. Think about the overall presentation to keep things streamlined.

I hope you're inspired to incorporate some of these into your big day. Which trend are you most excited about?

Until Next Time,
Mimi🥰

Wedding Guest Etiquette: Things You Should Never Do

6/5/2023

Picture
Hello Loves,
Today we're getting into wedding guest etiquette and pro active responses for the bride and groom. While I could probably fill a book with all of the wedding don'ts, here are a few that are top of mind.

1. Unless it is a matter of life and death, do not call a bride or groom on their wedding day. Save the well wishes for the reception or send a thoughtful note. If you're unexpectedly unable to attend, either send a message or reach out to the designated wedding manager (planner, relative or friend).
For The Couple: Consider handing your phones off to a trusted member of the bridal party, sibling, or other relative on the day of the wedding. Give the trusted party guidelines on how to handle each scenario.

2. If the couple is having an unplugged ceremony PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN! Quality wedding photography rates start at around $3,000. Not to mention the additional funds spent on the very sign that says to put your phone away that some people choose to ignore. Don't be that guest. Be in the moment and experience the ceremony in real-time. Don't run the risk of ruining the professional shots the couple has paid for. Also, don't be disrespectful of  the couple's wishes.
For the couple: If professional lock boxes are out of the question, have your officiant or MC remind guests to power off their phones and not to take photos.

3. Always follow the dress code set forth by the couple. Under dressing is never a good look but over dressing can be even more problematic. Whether you agree with the dress code or not, find a comfortable way to oblige. If you're unsure about what's appropriate, there is a ton of information online regarding the topic. Also, check in with the couple (in advance of course) for some extra guidance.
For the couple: Add the dress code to your invitations so there's no confusion. Also, use the details card to direct your guests to your wedding website where visual examples of said dress code should be provided.

4. Be sure to RSVP before or by the date specified. As a fellow commitment phobe, I understand the urge to wait until the last minute. Don't do it! Make a note of anything that may present an obstacle such as transportation, childcare etc. and find solutions early on. This will relieve the mental clutter and help you make a final decision.
For the couple: Make it easy for guests to respond. In addition to a response card, provide instructions for digital responses via your wedding website. Give yourself enough time between the RSVP date and the final headcount for the caterer. This will cut down on the stress of rounding up those final responses.

5. Never bring unconfirmed guests to a wedding. Not only is it  considered tacky, but it can also leave the bride and groom with an unintended bill. If a plus one wasn't extended to you, take it as an opportunity to make some new friends.
For the couple: Communicate with your wedding professional how you'd like the situation handled, should any extra guests arrive. It's also good to loop in a relative to assist said wedding professional as they'll have more insight into your family dynamic.

6. Do not over indulge. I've often heard people say if there's no open bar, they're not showing up🥴. That being said, an open bar is no excuse to over-drink. This isn't about being judgmental nor will I tell you how many drinks are appropriate. However, I will encourage you to drink responsibly. Don't put yourself in a position where you're a danger to yourself or others.
For the couple: While you should't have to babysit adults at your wedding, I recommend designating a relative to work with your wedding professionals should someone become inebriated. The safety of all your guests should always be front of mind.

7. Do not ignore the gift registry. The couple is literally telling you exactly what they want or need. Listen! A personalized gift is nice (if you know the couple well enough) but, just picking up a random toaster isn't as thoughtful. A monetary gift or donation in the couple's name is better served.
For the couple: Register for items in different price ranges to better accommodate your guests. Some wedding registry sites also allow for you to request donations toward your honeymoon.

8. No impromptu speeches. Wedding ceremonies and receptions are planned events. There's usually an extensive timeline curated by the couple and their wedding planner. So, no random speeches or toasts. Instead, write your heartfelt words in a card for the couple to enjoy after the wedding. Should the couple open the floor for speeches, keep it short and audience appropriate.
For the couple: Consider having an audio guestbook (I've linked a few below). This is great for guests that want to express their love verbally. Also, it's a nice way to remember those loved ones who may not be with us for much longer.

9. Do not take any centerpieces or decor items unless instructed by the couple. A beautiful centerpiece can be quite tempting, especially for a flower lover. However, wait for the go-ahead before snatching up those blooms. Some decorations might be rentals and can cost the couple  if misplaced.
For the couple: Have your MC or DJ make an announcement regarding whether centerpieces are up for grabs or not. Some couples even make a game out of it. Another alternative is to have someone place all of the eligible items in a central area so guests can grab them on their way out.

10. Do not get engaged or make any big announcements during someone else's wedding unless arrangements were made with the couple beforehand. This can be really sweet and romantic if done with the couple's blessing, especially if it's a relative or close friend that most of your guests are also connected to. However, no couple is obligated to share their special moment with you in that way. Certainly don't just assume it's okay to pull such a stunt.

Bonus Round:
11. Don't request a plus 1
12. Don't complain or talk badly about the wedding or guests while at the wedding
13. Don't walk in or crowd around the back while the wedding party makes their way down the isle
14. Don't hijack the photographer for a personal photo session
15: Don't post the bride in her dress before she does (unless permission is given)
16. Don't mess with the seating chart (unless you're sure the change would be approved)
17. Don't try to "upstage" the bride and groom
18. Keep quiet during the ceremony, toasts etc
19. Read the room when it comes to appropriate dancing
20. Have a positive attitude and great time!

Until next time,
Mimi☺️

Floral Wedding Trends for 2023

Hello Loves,
Let's kick off wedding season with some flowers. Today, I'm sharing 3 of my favorite floral wedding trends for 2023. I'm especially excited for the third one. As someone who loves color, I'm thrilled to see which unconventional hues will be on display this year.

1. P
etite Bridal Bouquets:
Bridal bouquets will be daintier in 2023. Brides are taking a break from robust, overflowing arrangements and opting for more delicate options. These petite posies still pack a punch. However, they won’t completely steal the show. Instead, they will perfectly accentuate the bride in her beautiful gown.

2. Edible Arrangements:
Be prepared for perfectly placed produce. Wedding tablescapes will be infused with distinctive, non-floral elements in 2023. Amongst these will be carefully curated fruits and vegetables. With so many unique colors, textures, and shapes, florists are adding produce to their design arsenals. From exotic, white coconuts to simple, fresh lemons, get ready to experience food beyond your plate.

3. Fashion Forward Color Palettes:
We’ve seen so many unique color trends over the past few years, from monochromatic desert hues to dynamic pops of neon. In 2023, Wedding Florists aren’t holding back when it comes to color. Be ready for thoughtful, sophisticated color stories ranging from beautiful, bold blends to creative color blocking. We will be seeing floral arrangements with inspired shades and patterns both naturally and artificially colored. Seriously, these breathtaking arrangements could rival anything you’d find on the latest fashion runway.

Which trend are you most inspired by, and will you be incorporating any of them into your wedding?
Until next time,
Mimi ☺️

New Year Wedding Planning Tips

12/29/2022

Picture
Hello loves,
I can't believe we're already at the end of 2022! I hope this year has truly been good to all of you. If not, just a few more days to go😩. Let's close out with some tips to plan the perfect New Year Wedding...

1. Find Cute Ways to Incorporate the Theme:

When I think about celebrating the New Year, champagne is front of mind. So, in addition to a traditional champagne toast, take it a step further with these festive champagne cork escort cards (pictured above) .

2. Put a New Spin On an Old Tradition:
Keep the ceremony on theme by simply swapping out the grains of rice for a more festive option. Sparklers, confetti cannons and metallic streamers all scream Happy New Year! Just be sure to inquire with your venue about what's permitted.

3. Do NOT Neglect The Ball Drop:
Evening weddings typically end between 11pm and 1am. For a big impact, why not end the night with an epic countdown at midnight. You can enhance the experience by releasing balloons, incorporating sparklers or confetti cannons as the countdown concludes (again, be sure to consult your venue prior to these arrangements). Even if the wedding runs past 12, you should still take the time to make this a special moment.

4. Photo Ops at Every Turn:
From headbands and hats to glasses and noise makers, there should be props a plenty for guests to take photos. Beyond the Photo Booth, add a few items at the guest tables so everyone can join in the fun.  Be sure to have your wedding hashtag displayed so your guests can get in on the social sharing of the evening.

5. Festive Fashion:
While you should always establish a dress code for any wedding, formal attire adds an elegance that's perfect for a New Year Wedding. If your crowd is a little extra like us, have them dress in Black Tie or Avant-garde looks for some added flair.

6. In the Details:
Wedding stationery is a subtle way to embrace the theme. Use this design element to add to the New Year aesthetic from the invitation suite down to the dinner menus.

As always, I hope these tips help you plan the best New Year wedding ever!
Until next time,
Mimi☺️

Plan The Perfect Holiday Proposal

12/12/2022

Picture
Hello loves,
Engagement season is in full swing. So, I'm excited to share some tips to help you nail that holiday proposal 💍.

1. The Feeling Should Be Mutual
Now, this should be a no brainer. Still, you'd be surprised how many people ignore this essential detail. Prior to popping the question, discuss your visions of marriage with your partner. If you're both on the same page, then, you can move forward with proposal plans.

2. Family Feedback
This one only applies if your partner desires familial approval prior to the engagement. Don't base this on what you've seen in movies or even your own family dynamics. Your partner should be consulted before you contact their family.

3. Consider Your Partner
Even if you're planning a surprise engagement, your partner's desires should be at the forefront of the planning process. From choosing the right ring, to deciding how intimate the big moment will be, your partner's wishes should be considered the whole way through.

4. The Ring
A marriage is a mutual commitment. The ring however, is a gift for your partner. Once you begin conversations about marriage, you should simultaneously collect information about the kind of ring they'd like. In addition to the style, you should also be aware of your partner's ring size. Another important step is getting the ring insured. Unfortunate situations happen all the time. So, an item that valuable should be protected.

5. Don't Forget the Details
Now, this may seem superficial to some. However, I think it demonstrates thoughtfulness, in this social media driven world. Be sure your partner is well put together, down to the cuticles (especially if the cameras are out). Trust me, this gesture will be greatly appreciated and make your love feel extra special.

6. Tie in the Holiday
The holidays are the perfect time to pop the question. That's why engagement season lasts from Thanksgiving to Valentine's Day. So, why not infuse the magic of the season into the proposal? Weave the special moment into an existing holiday tradition, or use it to create a new one. Incorporating those festive elements into the proposal will definitely make the experience more memorable.

7. Secure the Ring
Guess how many engagement rings are at the bottom of the ocean. Too many! When choosing the perfect destination for your engagement, be sure to consider ALL the possibilities. Take the necessary precautions to safeguard that ring! If the conditions are really high risk, consider a stand-in ring. While you don't need to spend tons of money on a custom replica, the stand-in should be very similar to the real thing.

8. Document the Moment
Whether it be filmed or just a detailed journal entry, be sure to keep a record of this most precious moment. Trust me, one day further down the road, you'll be asked to recount the events of that day and you'll be surprised how many details you have forgotten. Seriously, whenever I ask my clients how they met, I always get a kick out of how much their stories differ. So, take the necessary steps to preserve the memory and enjoy it for years to come.

I hope you feel more confident in planning your proposal. Congratulations in advance!
Until Next Time,
Mimi ☺️

Wedding Trends 2022: 5 Bridal Veil Styles I'm Obsessed With

3/24/2022

Hey you guys,
I love how creative brides are getting with their wedding day style. So, I'm sharing some of my favorite bridal veil trends, for 2022.
Picture
1. Short and Sweet
I love this trend because of its versatility. Since there's so much flexibility with placement, short veils compliment many hairstyles.
Picture
2. Crowning Glory
This trend effortlessly commands the room. With countless styles to choose from, you can really showcase your personality or honor your culture with a bridal crown.
Picture
3. Unveiled
Some brides are skipping veils entirely and opting for embellished hairstyles instead. Adorning their tresses with pearls, beads, or bling, and it's simply stunning. I love the creative freedom of this trend.
Picture
4. About Face
Face framing veils really highlight a bride's beauty, keeping the focus on the face. The key to nailing this trend is finding a style that best accentuates your features.
Picture
5. Fully Embellished
This trend makes a real statement. Even when paired with the simplest dress, an embellished veil makes a major impact on the overall look.

Wedding, or not, I hope these trends inspire you to try something new.

Until next time,
Mimi☺️

2. Floral Menu Cards & Stationery
